We recently completed a tree dismantling job for a domestic customer in Kirtlington, Oxfordshire. The task involved removing a diseased Walnut tree that had started to show clear signs of decline. The tree was located in the middle of a well-maintained, block paved driveway. It was also very close to neighbouring homes.
Because of its position, this job needed extra planning and careful execution. We always take safety seriously, but in this case, the site required even more attention than usual.
Before we began any work, we carried out a full site safety assessment. This included inspecting the location, measuring clearances and checking for possible hazards. We also completed a detailed method statement. The tree’s proximity to neighbouring properties meant there was little room for error.
We used a cherry picker to safely reach the tee canopy. This allowed us to remove the branches in small sections at a time. By using this method, we reduced the chances of falling debris damaging property or injuring anyone. Each cut was controlled and lowered in a safe, managed way.
To ensure the block paving wasn’t damaged, we set up protective ground guards and worked methodically during the tee dismantling process. We avoided dragging any of our equipment over the surface, which kept the block paving in pristine condition.
Once the tree was fully dismantled and all debris cleared, we moved on to removing the stump. We used our stump grinding machine to grind the base of the Walnut tree down to below ground level.
This left the space clear and flat, ready for new planting. The customer wanted to replant the area, so we made sure the ground was properly cleared before we left.
The customer was really pleased with how neat and tidy the area looked once the job was done. We left the site ready for planting, and the customer can now use the space for a new tree or garden feature.
Tree dismantling is not just “cutting a tree down”. It requires a precise, controlled approach that protects everything in the surrounding area.
Every job comes with its own set of challenges. With this tree dismantling job in Oxfordshire, access was limited and the area was tight. Specific precautions were taken to ensure a safe and successful outcome.
